Tracking cooler air the rest of this week; weekend rain chances
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly with lows in the upper 40s to around 50.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the upper 60s and northwest wind gusts up to 25 mph.
EXTENDED: It's much cooler behind our cold front for the rest of the week as gusty northwest winds continue. We'll be clear overnight with lows dropping into the upper 40s to low 50s by morning. Strong winds pick up again tomorrow, but we only manage the upper 60s despite the added sunshine. Cooler than average temperatures continue through the weekend, with an active pattern setting up again by Friday night. The upper level pattern remains northwesterly, sending several disturbances our way between Friday night and Monday. We'll have rounds of rain and a few thunderstorms, but severe risks look low. Some of the forecast data is hinting at perhaps a few more robust storms on Sunday afternoon or evening, but the overall signal is low. Rain amounts will range from 1-2.5" with the highest amounts focused along and south of I-70. Things will be soggy in these areas as we picked up 2-3" or so across southern Missouri on Monday night.Â
