Tracking severe storms late tonight and tomorrow

TODAY: Partly sunny and warm with highs near 80 degrees. Storms roll in by sunset, and some could be severe, producing heavy rain, large hail, and strong winds into the overnight.

TOMORROW: As a warm front lifts through Mid-MO early Monday, a complex of storms will track near and along the front in the early morning before sunrise, carrying all severe hazards. A break is expected by late morning and early afternoon, allowing the atmosphere to recover as temperatures climb to the upper 70s. This will fuel more storms late Monday afternoon and evening, with all severe hazards again possible, including the potential for a tornado.

EXTENDED: A final round of storms is possible on Tuesday as a trailing cold front presses east. This front cools us back into the 60s late week. Rain amounts through Tuesday night will reach 2 to 3 inches or higher, putting stress on smaller rivers and streams.
